# Bridging Approaches

There are different mechanisms for enabling cross-chain communication and interoperability between blockchains. 

Key properties:

* Setup - How the mechanism is initialized and set up.
* Mechanism - The core technique used for cross-chain communication.
* Security - How secure and resilient the mechanism is.
* Decentralization - How decentralized the mechanism is.
* Ease of use - How easy it is to implement and use the mechanism.
* Computation - The computational overhead of the mechanism.
* Scalability - How well the mechanism scales.
